Where is the Barterloo app?

Barterloo is live in beta. During beta, you join through the Barterloo website, not through the App Store or Google Play Store yet. Use the JOIN button on barterloo.com to create your account. After joining, you get access to the beta app, complete your verification, and start exploring Barterloo. For the beta launch, Barterloo currently runs through Expo Go, which acts as a temporary app container. This allows us to ship bug fixes and improvements much faster while the platform is still in beta. The App Store and Google Play versions are planned in a few weeks. Status: June 2026.

Is Barterloo available on iPhone and Android?

Yes. Barterloo is available for both iPhone and Android users, even during beta. It is not listed in the App Store or Google Play Store yet. Access currently happens through the JOIN button on barterloo.com and the beta app setup.

Why can’t I find Barterloo in the App Store or Play Store?

Because Barterloo is still in beta. We are letting early members join first, test the platform, build the first real trading communities, and help shape the experience before the public app store launch. That is also why we currently use Expo Go during beta: it lets us fix bugs, improve the app, and ship updates quickly while the community is growing.

The one-time $1.99 verification/security fee helps keep the platform safer and covers external verification costs. Barterloo is community-driven and does not rely on large investors controlling the platform. Memberships help cover development, infrastructure, support, and marketing.

The people making the trade decide. Barterloo does not force a fixed dollar value on every exchange. One person may value time, another may value skill, access, convenience, creativity, trust, rarity, or urgency. A fair trade is one where both people clearly agree on what they are giving and receiving before the exchange happens.

Most likely yes. Barterloo already has more than 5,000+ early members and is growing area by area. Some regions already have more members than others because the platform is still in beta. One-time ID verification helps create a safer environment and makes it harder for fake accounts, scammers, and repeat bad actors to abuse the platform. Your safety and the safety of the community matter more than fast growth.

Stripe processes the verification, and Barterloo uses the verification result to confirm whether an account can participate. Your ID documents are not shown publicly on Barterloo. The sensitive verification flow is handled by Stripe as a dedicated identity provider. Barterloo does not store copies of your ID documents in the Barterloo app or database. Your ID documents are not visible on your public profile and other members can never see them.

Trust is built through real people, clear agreements, and community accountability.

Yes, you can barter services. Barterloo is not only for physical items. Skills, knowledge, time, creative work, business services, teaching, local help, and digital services are often some of the best things to trade. A useful skill can be just as valuable as a physical product.

Most people have more to offer than they think. You may not have a product, but you may have time, taste, experience, contacts, creativity, organizing skills, local knowledge, editing ability, repair skills, teaching ability, pet care experience, business knowledge, or something useful sitting unused at home. Barterloo is built to help people discover that value. If you are unsure what to offer, open the app, look at what others are posting, and get inspired. The first idea does not have to be perfect. It just has to start the conversation.

How does shipping work?

Shipping is agreed between the people making the trade. Some trades happen locally in person. Some trades happen remotely. Some physical items may be shipped if both people agree on who pays, which shipping method is used, and when the item will be sent. Always agree on shipping details before completing the exchange.

The two people trading decide. There is no single rule for every exchange. One person may pay, both may split it, or shipping may be part of the trade agreement. This can also depend on the value, size, distance, and type of goods being exchanged.

If a member loses disputes repeatedly or seriously harms the platform, that member may be restricted or banned.

The biggest difference: small businesses may link to external offers and add prices to eligible business offers.

Yes, but choose the plan that best matches your main use. Use an Individual account for personal exchanges. Use a Business account if you want to promote a business, sell products or services, post business offers, link external offers, or use business features. If you selected the wrong account type during beta, you can change it in the app settings on your profile.

I signed up as a Small Business but cannot create Business posts. What should I do?

Check your account settings first to confirm that your Business plan is active. If the issue continues, contact Barterloo support. Include the email address you used to sign up, your account type, and a short description of what is not working. This helps support check your plan, account status, and feature access faster.

How do I sign in after joining?

Use the login option on Barterloo and sign in with the email address you used when joining. During beta, you can also use the Access Beta App button on barterloo.com.

Check your spam, promotions, and junk folders first. Usually, the email arrives within 1 to 2 minutes. You should also be able to access the app through the Access Beta App button on barterloo.com.
